Challenge:
This project had a very tight schedule, as all work needed to be done before the children returned to school. The building had over 12 different roof levels and there were a number of trades working on the roofs at the same time. We had to demo the roofs at the same time as other demolitions were happening. We also needed to consider and accommodate summer activities taking place at the school.
Solution:
We scheduled a weekly meeting with all subcontractors on the project to coordinate the work with each other and around the summer activities. We also had phone conferences to manage the schedule and placement of dumpsters during construction. Several staging areas were designated around the school to accommodate the removal of the numerous roof sections. Special fencing was used to ensure the safety of all parties involved and additional protection was provided across roofs and to rooftop equipment to avoid damage.
“It was a pleasure working with DCG Roofing on this challenging project with 18 roof sections and multiple levels. With the changing of the rooftop mechanical units, subcontractor coordination and scheduling were critical in meeting our completion dates. DCG kept to our schedule and completed the project on time without any safety incidents.”
